The Resurgence of Slideshare

It seems like everyone is starting to allow you to embed Slideshare . LinkedIn , I believe, started this resurgence several months ago and now PR Web. Slideshare has to be hot, my 3 favorite bloggers have mentioned it in the last few days.

Doug Karr of The Marketing Tech Blog published this post Marketing for Leads with Powerpoint?

John Jantsch of Duct Tape Marketing published Weekend Favs Feature May Sixteen .

Nancy Duarte of the Duarte Blog published The “Presentation” Release – Slide Over Documents, Make Room for Presentations .

Nancy went on to say: "The communications business is changing. Press release documents are becoming a thing of the past, because the medium is no longer the message. The relationship between the communications industry and technology needs to be shaken up. Or stirred. To be fair, communications agencies are keeping up all right. They faithfully follow each successive technology, building capabilities to optimize for its communications and marketing potential – Twitter being a most recent example. But what’s next? We think the answer is simple – it’s about getting back to basics. Creating compelling stories and connecting with your audience."

Now, I might not say that Slideshare was ever out of vogue but I think the importance of it has resurfaced as we try to tell more of the story figuratively. Since PR releases have become so much a part of our content marketing package it only seems a natural extension to create a way to tell the story in a more engaging manner. I for one have had great success releasing PR to the web and have used the Slideshare properties as an important component of my releases. I think you will see a resurgence in the use of this feature and the use of video will also surface as a component of PR.

I would welcome you to review my online News Agency but for the life of me, I fail to understand why PitchEngine who may have been one of the first to allow Slideshare to be embedded have since stop allowing that feature.

Read the above posts and start uploading to Slideshare. Great resource!
