How I would Market your Company? – Step 2 of 10

You want me to start marketing your company today. Here is what I would do:

  1. Review your measurements on what is working and what is not, if you have them. If you don’t know, stop doing it!

I already know the answer, 50% of your marketing works, you just don’t know which 50%. Well, set measures but how do you do that? Use the SMART formula, it has been around for years and most of us tend to ignore it but there is a reason it has stayed, it works. SMART is the acronym for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.

This cannot be to hard process, you are doing it all in hind sight. I am not asking you to do anything like predict the future.

Since I talk about the marketing funnel so much, let me give you a few examples:

  1. We will convert qualified (Know,Like, Trust) into trial offers from 12 to 16 per month in six months.
  2. We will convert trial offers to sales from 4 to 6 per within 6 months.
  3. We will increase websites monthly visits from 1,000 to 2,500 per month in the next six months.
  4. Increase repeat buyers from 2 to 4 per month in the next year.

Now, that you created measures for each of your marketing efforts, would still be doing them?
