Did you ever wonder if the examples in non-fiction books are real?

billCaskey This should not be a surprise to people but I have read the Duct Tape Marketing Book a couple of times. I even remembered that this guy from Indy and a person from Fort Wayne was mentioned in the book. Making a long story short, I went to visit a potential client and he asked if this guy downstairs who had been mentioned in the book could sit in. Of course, I agreed. The  person turned out to be renowned sales trainer, Bill Caskey. What an opportunity for me, to participate in a sales discussion with an expert. He was able to see first hand, what I was about and with his background in DTM, I am sure you read a book if you are in it, able to see how well I discussed DTM.

Well, you know how it turned out? I will find out soon about the prospect, but more importantly, all of us engaged readily in conversation and it turned into a 3-person dialogue about my prospects business.  Afterwards, I was invited down to Bill’s office and he took the time to learn a little more about DTM and Joe Dager. As I was departing he offered a copy of his book, Same Game, New Rules. I read the book this weekend. I will tell you more about it in another Blog post but bottom line is I liked it. 23 great insights to selling. It is one of these books that does not necessarily break new ground. Instead, it offers sound advice that you can put to use immediately and even a step at a time if you so desire. Maybe Bill caould be called a “New Age Zig Ziglar.” No closes, but a good lesson on how your actions and nudges create sales. I love the term “Money arrives when your’ re ready!” I encourage you to browse his website and review his blog and broadcast, I think you will find them enjoyable and useful.

P.S. Maybe John will have him on the Duct Tape Marketing Podcast? Did you get your widget yet?
