I found this older video on how Toyota applies Lean Techniques to Sales and Marketing. I was actually pleased to see that it follows closely my own line of thought.
Lean Techniques are not thought of in the traditional sense of production but more so in the sense of how they can achieve better transparency to the sales and marketing function. The advantage is not necessarily the transparency aspect from the customers viewpoint, rather the transparency to the rest of your co-workers.
