In this day of innovation, design, etc. it seems to me that the role of engineering has taken on practically a trade type nomenclature. What attracted many of us to this discipline is the desire to create things. Are engineers still considered at the cutting edge, innovative and entrepreneurial?
I have used Lean Product Development as my process for in developing the new while using standard products, modifying the standards and exploring new ideas. Or in other words, I think the discipline of Lean allows for me to deliver a better, faster, cheaper and arguably more creative product.
Not saying this is the answer but in a Lean Manufacturing company I wonder if Lean Product Development is used?
