From the Al Dente blog where Serious gastronomy meets culinary calamity-
Skeptical,I did some quick research on the best recovery drink. Turns it’s not some fancy laboratory concoction or even even Gatorade. You get the best recovery from plain old chocolate milk . According to a 2006 sports nutrition study, "The findings suggest that chocolate milk has an optimal ratio of carbohydrates to protein to help refuel tired muscles".
Now I have read about this from a Notre Dame Sports training program and seen it a few others. But yeah, just simple chocolate milk. This story stuck with me. As we start searching for things to bring out of the recession and how to capitalize on it, don’t overlook the obvious:
-
What are the things that you do well?
-
What are you an expert at?
-
Why do people call you?
-
What makes you different?
-
What allows you to charge the price you do?
I once took an innovation course that showed me how many great ideas came from out of the box thinking – not very many. The great ideas came from within the box. It was a great lesson to not venture to far from home and make sure we drink our own medicine! Serve some chocolate milk at your next innovation meeting, or maybe at your next board meeting!
Don’t get me wrong, I am not against innovating, repackaging your products, etc. But when thinking of where your success will come from, you may find out how close it is to home. Instead of maybe looking at a new product launch, maybe you just need to look at a Re-launch strategy?
