Marketing Plan Implementation

I presented the 7-steps to Small Business Marketing Success to a group of small businesses in Marion, IN. It was part of a Small Business Forum put on by the SCORE Counselors, Chapter550. I was quite pleased with the comments, but more importantly what they took from the presentation:

  1. Examples of using the internet.
  2. Lead Generation Trio.
  3. Public Relations – Strategic Planning.
  4. Identify Customers.
  5. Essence of Strategy.
  6. Internet Marketing.
  7. Social Networking on the Internet.
  8. Information presented about Blogs.
  9. Referral Marketing.
  10. Ideal Client.

And the list went on. But what I noticed is I touched a lot of different material. The list on how I could improve was practically a duplication of the above, except that they wanted certain subjects covered in more detail. I think people when they go to a 90-minute presentation may expect to much as far as working material. It takes a year to put a good marketing system in place. It does not happen overnight.

When the Duct Tape Marketing Coaching network looked at the beta version of Marketing Plan Pro that is what they saw, a year long plan. We encouraged and John Jantsch did condense it in to a smaller plan. And again, into a smaller plan. That way we could work with a client and get a plan of action started, chunck off the next section, then the next. That way you built a plan while implementing it and it became a living document. So if you use Marketing Plan Pro, you will start with a simple marketing plan and build upon it in a step by step fashion. Great concept!
